Module 6 · Lesson 5 of 7

Sentence, summary and note completion

A four-step method for every completion task (rules, prediction, finding the place, exact copying), plus word-box summaries and an original passage with eight gaps to practise on.

60 min

In this lesson

  • Read completion instructions precisely: the word limit, where answers come from and what to write
  • Predict the word type and kind of meaning of each gap from the words and layout around it
  • Find answers quickly using anchor words, passage order and paraphrase
  • Complete summaries, with or without a word box, by matching meaning and rejecting distractors
  • Apply the full method to an original passage and review your mistakes by the skill each question tested
