Module 6 · Lesson 6 of 7

Matching information and multiple choice

A clear method for four question types that test paraphrase: matching information, matching features, sentence endings and multiple choice, with an original passage to practise on.

60 min

In this lesson

  • Find the paragraph that contains a piece of information by matching both its label (a reason, an example, a comparison) and its topic, in any order
  • Match statements to the right person by tracking every mention of each name and checking who actually holds each view
  • Choose sentence endings by using grammar to shortlist and meaning to decide
  • Answer multiple-choice questions by predicting first and rejecting options built from echoes, overstatements and half-truths
  • Apply all four methods to an original passage and review your mistakes by the trap that caused them

  • Review your answers by trap, not by score
  • In the exam: order, timing and recording answers
  • Build the skill between practice tests
